Bolivia
aka: Lovingly referred to as "The Rooftop of the world" has all the
great geographical conditions to produce this wonderful specialty coffee. Bolivia
sits high in the Andes Mountains with snowy landscapes, plateaus and tropical
rain forests. With the aid of various organizations including the Bolivia Specialty
Coffee Association Bolivia has made great strides in their quality and is working
hard to be an aggressive player in the world of specialty coffee although only
a small producer. Bolivian coffees are primarily grown in the Yungas area which
is a tropical region in La Paz with altitudes between 500 and 1,600 meters.
Other regions include Cochabamba, Tarija, and Santa Cruz. This typica coffee
comes from a handful of small farms who work hard to constantly improve their
organic farming practices.
The cup is sweet, very balanced with deep berries and floral notes.
You will find this one to be creamy, caramelly, and chocolaty sweet.
Roast: Although this Bolivian
can handle the full profile spectrum the peak roast seems best between City
to Full City. Keeping it lighter seems to draw out the varietals best nature.
